Hey guys!

Now it's the time to serve God outside of YFC!
We will be helping the Good Shepherd Ministries.
Good Shepherd is a Christian homeless and rehabilitation centre. We will be doing simple tasks like preparing food, making beds, sweeping floors, etc.

here are the details:

What: Cluster General Assembly: Outreach activity
Where: Good Shepherd Ministries

* We need 25 to go in total as a Cluster. Which means, 8 people per chapter with 1 more from any.

We will be having a MANDATORY household head training for you, especially if you're new to this commitment.
It's really important for you to attend this event. This is for you to understand what really is to be a household head or a unit head.

This event is for our C3 leaders.
This is for them to understand, and know the true meaning of their service for God and for our brothers and sisters in YFC.

We encourage all our leaders in attend this MANDATORY event.
This is a big help for you, especially the new leaders in YFC. This will make you understand and value your service for God.

SEPT. 27: OUTREACH ACTIVITY CANCELLED

Unfortunately, Good Shepherd called one of our CCs to cancel this activity.

But, instead of going to Good Shepherd, we will have our "Durham brothers and sisters chillage"

Your Unit heads will let your know the details.
Our chillage will be "by unit"

The ladies will have their own chillage and the guys will also have their own.

The chillage will be within Sept. 26th, 27th, or 28th.

We'll let you know about the details ASAP.

Durham chapter's fun doesn't end at the CGA we just had last Sept. 13th...
Because Andrei and I miss you soo much so we are having a HOUSEHOLD ASSEMBLY! wooohhooo!

WHY: To help each other as brothers and sisters grow spiritually in our YFC community.

PRECONFERENCE UPDATES

Hey everyone.

It has been CONFIRMED!!! Pre-conference is...
When: May 10th 2008, 7AM to 7PM
Where: Agincourt Collegiate, 2621 Midland Ave.
Who: EVERYONE!
How much: $20, registration and waiver form soon to come!

Band and dance are currently full but we still need members for our other activities (see past blog below). Last day to sign up for sports and mural is May 8th so PLEASE let us know if you want to participate!!!
Our delegation colour will be determined after April 19. Stay tuned.

CONCERNS WITH PRE-CONFERENCE

So here's what's poppin with the annual preconference coming up.

Here are the events you can sign up for.

Dance (requires you pass a tryout session and that you give FULL commitment and going to EVERY practice because there is hardly any time left)

Furthermore, there is a CAMPUS section AND a community section. For those of you who are finished high school and who attend a school with the campus based program, you have the option of participating by representing either your SCHOOL'S team or your CHAPTER'S team. If you choose to represent Durham, you will be considered in the JUNIOR division NOT the campus division. Please email us and tell us which you prefer!!!
Once you have signed up, you will shortly receive an email or a call regarding practices, meetings, rules, what to bring, etc.
Rosters are due one week before the preconference.

Admission cost for precon is $15-$20
Most likely to occur during the whole day (that being 9am-6pm)

STATIONS OF THE CROSS + further updates

First off, we'd like to apologize for the cancellations of a few events: the General Assembly on March 1st and our visit to Good Shepherd on Feb 24 will be canceled due to Camp Stronghold and difficulty of obtaining supervisors due to sudden tragic events.

However, what we DO have is our annual participation in the Way of the Cross at St. Isaac Jogues. This will be taken place on Good Friday beginning at 9am ending around 12pm. We have been asked to present stations 7, 11, and 12.

St. Isaac's is located at Dixie and Finch.
Directions (Coming from Westside of Pickering or anywhere west).
Exit Whites North
Go West on Finch
Immediately on your left once you past Dixie you shall find it.

You could also take Kingston going West (towards Pickering Town Centre), make a left at Dixie, right on Finch and make an immediate Left.


For those of you coming from Ajax, Whitby, or however far you are
401 west
exit liverpool north (right)
turn right onto liverpool
left on finch should be on your right side right before the traffic lights at Dixie

Now if you have any artistic flavour, conceptual ideas, or are just interested in helping us out in general with whatever gifts/talents/contributions you have let us know.

Email us your schedules. We've been thinking Saturday afternoons should work out. Let us know by March 8 at the latest if you are interested.

Also we got our household assembly at St. Bernadette's coming up on Sunday, March 3, 2008 from 1:30 to 4:30.

WHO: EVERYONE PUT YOUR 3'S UP!!!! This camp is hosted by your one and only EAST CLUSTER 3!!! This is composed of yours truly (Durham in case you forgot!) North East Scarborough, and MARKHAM!!!
EVERYONE WELCOME NO MATTER WHAT AREA!!!

Here's what's going down
WHO: why, YOU of course!!! LOL all members welcome!!! NON-members welcome too =)
WHAT: Sector General Assembly (do not be fooled by its intimidating professional label! YES it is an official YFC event BUT it is also a CHILLIDGE to go out skating.
WHERE: Nathan Phillips Square
WHEN: Saturday, February 2, 2008 1pm-4pm (followed by a mass at St. Michaels at 5pm. We leave the area together.)
WHY: Because we want to chill and see our brothers and sisters from other chapters once again.
HOW: Meet up at Scarborough Town Centre 12pm (Please email, ask for our numbers and we will wait for you!!! Then take the subway together of course.)


Now Armi hates the cold and just not be under this skating vibe (she's not much into these winter sports). Now if you have this view too but still want to come along, we can arrange to go eat at Spring Rolls or whatever else downtown has to offer. If you are interested, please call her cell phone (and PLEASE do not give the number to anyone else). 416-846-7824. If no one decides to come, then Armi will have no choice but to skate and fall on her butt.

TEDDY BEAR PICNIC!!! Household head updates and Sector General Assembly

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTEN-TION!!!

The year 2008 has officially been declared the year of St. Paul --> a time to proclaim the glory of God by showing his love.

So... that is why we start off the year with our household assembly to introduce us to a related theme of compassion!!! (and because we love you and miss you all of course=P)

AND... which is also why a new database has been edited and mailed out to get these loving fellowships STARTED!!! Current and former household heads, PLEASE check your emails and expect a call from us soon!!!

INDOOR TEDDY BEAR PICNIC!!!

That's RIGHT!!! It's time to beat the winter blues and bring the sunshine back in!!! Bring in your teddy bears, picnic mats, chairs, parasols, and any other picnic supplies and join us as we all serve each other some FANTASTIC food (provided by the CC's).



ALSO we got our upcoming YFC Sector General Assembly happening on Saturday, February 2nd (location to be determined). If possible, please book off 1:30-4:30 on this day!!!

Remember, if you cannot make it to this event, there's still the household assembly a week before!!! Come and meet your new households!!! Your household/chapter/unit heads can't WAIT to see you there and are extremely excited for your arrival!!!

Hello Durham this is your new Chapterhead Armi De Francia and Andrei Nazareno wishing you all a belated happy new year and to update you on the big events going down in the Durham region chapter!


First off (I apologize that this is very last minute) we got the General assembly at St. Bernadette's Saturday January 5 from 12:30-4:30. It's not just your fun and games gone dull, it'll be a chance to truly get to know each and to show who we really are!


However, if that seems too last minute and hectic for your schedule, you can always attend the upcoming Household assembly on
Saturday, January 26th
at Holy Redeemer in Pickering.
taking place from 1:30 to 4:30




Now in case you have forgotten your way to Holy Redeemer, Here are some directions:
Coming from Ajax/Whitby/Oshawa/anywhere further east!
Take the 401 West and exit Whites. The exit leads to Kingston and not directly to Whites road so you'll have to make a left when you exit at the lights, and then another left on Whites so that you'll be heading South on Whites Road.
From there, make a left on Oklahoma (you'll see a gas station).
Left on Eyer.
Just keep going straight and you should see the church on your left side before the pedestrian walk.
